The most significant trend launcher event of India, Lakme Fashion Week is a much awaited and much celebrated fashion event. Organised twice every year, last week saw the exhibit of winter / festive wear by the who’s who of the Indian designer forum. It is the ultimate guide to redefine the future of fashion and integrate India into a global fashion world. Let us get a glimpse of the famous designer an their creativity to get a comprehensive fashion understanding of the day.
Sabyasachi’s collection was all about shimmer and deep jewel tones. The show stopper Kareena Kapoor Khan looked her radiant best in the heavily embellished lehenga designed in a Mughal inspired pattern. Her mom-to-be status took her beauty to another level. Sabyasachi’s work was dominated by zardosi, Parsi work, baroque crystals and Kashmiri Filla work.
Anushka Reddy’s “The wedding Chronicle” was all for the wedding trousseau and thus a must watch for every bride-to-be. Shilpa Shetty, the show stopper looked ethereal as she walked in a ravishing red zardozi lehenga and golden embroidered choli with a matching ornate dupatta.
Tarun Tahiliani’s collection was inspired by sculptor Mrinalini Mukherjee’s life size hemp and cast bronze sculptures. The clothes were closely connected to the roots of the textile tradition and yet set with a global appeal.
Prachi Desai walked for the designer duo Sonam and Paras Modi. She looked stunning in her charcoal black golden embroidered lehenga with a cold shouldered choli attached to a flowing cape. The collection was inspired from street art and the vintage and poignant elegance of French locality of Montparnasse.
Hemang Agarwal tried something different as he worked with zari or metallic yarn to create a shimmering collection. The clothes were all simple yet elegant without the use of printing or embroidery.
Manish Malhotra emphasized on the look of the pre-bridal ceremonies like sangeet and mehendi. Shraddha Kapoor, the show stopper looked amazing in the deep green velvet lehenga with an applique embroidered nude-toned crop blouse.
Jacqueline Fernandez walked for Rajesh Pratap Singh who showcased his penchant for high tech futuristic treatment of fashion. His collection, “The Punjabi Suit” was presented on Day 3 at the Lakme Fashion Week.
These and several others brought to the fore the changes the fashion world is undergoing at the moment. It was a bright and beautiful event with celeb spotting and fanfare. The upcoming festive and winter season will see these silhouettes gaining momentum with the fashionistas. All in all it was a visual treat. a bliss to the fashion conscious generation of today.
